St. Helena Winery is an 18 acre, sustainably farmed estate owned by Peter and Paulette Story. St. Helena solely produces estate grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon the wines are a blend of clones that have been planted in four different soil types. The Bacchus clone was planted on river gravel and these vines produce small intense berries with strong tannin structure. Clone 337 and 191 are planted on mixed gravel loam soils and the See clone on dense clay. The hand-picked, hand-sorted and destemmed fruit is cold soaked in T-bins to extract color, flavors and aroma. The juice was fermented, aged in new French oak barrels and then blended. Winemaker Aaron Pott has worked in wineries all over the world, including the famed Bordeaux estate Chateau Troplong Mondot. He consults for a variety of wineries in California’s Napa Valley and also makes wine under his own label, Pott Wines. In 2012, Aaron was named one of Food & Wine Magazine Winemakers of the Year. The Storys’ innovative Adopt-A-Vine program allows members to adopt one of the grape vines on the estate. For an annual membership fee, participants “own a vine which is suitably marked with a name tag, a certificate and several bottles of wine.
