Appearance: Full gold.
Aroma: Light malt loaf tostart, with sultanas and a trace of allspice. After a while a very slight steamy/smoky note, and hints of hard toffee. The smoky/maritime note increases over time, but becomes dirty (exhaust fumes) when water is added.
Taste: Smooth texture, sweet taste with smoke in the finish and a mineral twist. Water softens the texture; less sweet but still smoky, and a lingering smokiness in the aftertaste.
Comment: The flavour profile is just what you would expect from a 19th Century distillery.
The Lost Distillery Company believes it is a tragedy that over one hundred Scotch Whisky distilleries have permanently closed during the last Century. Despite being renowned for their excellent quality malts, these distilleries were largely closed through the effects of war and politics.
The Lost Distillery Company attempts to bring to life the story of famed distilleries and their people, to offer you a flavour of what those whiskies might taste like today if the distilleries had not closed. These are hand crafted whiskies steeped in history with an old fashioned taste.
|The Lost Distillery Company is an independent boutique Scotch Whisky company. We are obsessive about our craft and uncompromising when it comes to whisky quality. Our mission is to create present day expressions of legendary whiskies that belonged to the craft of whisky distilling almost a century ago.
