Intense notes of black berry fruit blended with oaky touches and delicately spiced. Full and fleshy on the palate, the structure of this wine is based on elegant tannins. Very good ageing potential.
Wine Spectator 89 points - A round, fleshy style, displaying cherry, raspberry and mineral flavors. A tad exotic, with echoes of sweet fruit and oak spice on the finish. Drink now through 2020. 150 cases imported.-BS  (Jun 15 2014)

Vinous 89 points - Good bright medium red. Cherry, raspberry and rose petal aromas are accented by pepper and spice notes. Supple and moderately intense, with good floral lift to the flavors of red fruits, spices and herbs. Dusty tannins are on the light side but show a slight dryness owing to the wine’s modest buffering material.  (Mar 2014)

Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Pere & Fils, is one of the oldest wine estates in Burgundy, perpetuating tradition for over 280 years and 9 generations. In 1775, Joseph Bouchard acquired his first vineyards in Volnay in the famous “Les Caillerets” climat and started to develop the family’s vineyard holdings. During the French Revolution, property belonging to the clergy and nobility was confiscated and put up for sale. Joseph’s son, Antoine Philibert Joseph Bouchard, seized the opportunity to extend the family’s vineyard holdings in Beaune including the famous “Beaune Greves Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus.” This desire to build up an exceptional estate in Cote d’Or endured through the generations and acquisitions in the best Villages were added throughout the 19th century and again in the early 20th century.
