Wine Enthusiast 89 points - Herbal and spicy, this vibrant red cherry-laced Pinot is tightly woven and expressive. Full in the mouth, it also has buoyant acidity to keep things moving along and steer the wine into elegance. Consider pairing this fine food wine with pork tenderloin lathered in a cherry reduction sauce.  (Oct 2014)

Wine Spectator 87 points - Tight and dense, with a mix of savory dried herb, dried berry, black tea and crushed rock flavors, ending with a long, clean finish. Drink now through 2020. 8,946 cases made.-JL  (Aug 31 2014)

Vinous 88 points - Bright medium red. Perfumed aromas of raspberry, red cherry, brown spices, flowers and underbrush. Savory and pliant, offering a nice blend of red fruits, spices and forest floor flavors. An easygoing pinot without quite the tangy lift of the 2011 release.
This well-known, long-established Pinot Noir producer has turned out four attractive Pinot Noirs. The 2012 Pinot Noir exhibits a light ruby color as well as lovely notes of strawberries, black cherries and spring flowers, medium-bodied, silky tannins, and enough acidity to provide freshness and vibrancy. Drink it over the next 4-6 years. (May 2014)

Wine maker notes
When sourcing Pinot Noir fruit, we seek those Carneros vineyards that offer diversity in both aspect and clonal selection. The result is a complex and vibrant Pinot Noir most reflective of the Carneros region.

By committing to pursuing high quality California Pinot Noir back in the late 1970s, Saintsbury founders Dick Ward and David Graves put themselves in the forefront of a movement that would eventually catapult California wines, Carneros Pinot Noir and Saintsbury onto the world wine stage. According to the Wine Spectators Matt Kramer, Saintsbury not only single-handedly demolished the old assertion that California cannot create Pinot Noirs of a Burgundian standard of delicacy and finesse, but also no winery has been more methodical in its investigation and pursuit of newly available Pinot Noir clones than Saintsbury. The stellar range of Saintsbury Pinot Noirs and unfiltered Chardonnays has never performed better than today. Hats off to Dick and Dave who continue to lead the way with innovation and inspiration.
