Vinous 91 points - Bright, full yellow. Citrus and tropical fruits on the nose, complicated by high-pitched notes of clove, menthol, lavender, ginger and crushed rock. Ripe, broad and sweet, with a salty thickness to the peach and pear nectar flavors. Very full chardonnay with slightly elevated alcohol but a noteworthy tongue-coating umami texture.
Wine Advocate 93 points - The 2011 Chardonnay is quite beautiful. It presents an attractive combination of varietal richness from the batonnage and aging on the lees as seen through the lens of the long, cold growing season. Staglin’s 2011 Chardonnay stands out for its textural finesse, depth and overall balance. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. (Dec 2012)
